What is Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR):

CPR is an emergency life saving procedure performed when the heart stops beating in a cardiac arrest victim.

Why get trained in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation:

Majority of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (92.5%) in India, happen at home and more than half of them occur in presence of others. Yet, very few of the cardiac arrest victims (1.3%) receive immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). (CARO study: Krishna CK, et al. World J Emerg Med. 2017.)

This compares poorly with the western world where 18-55% of unfortunate victims of cardiac arrest receive quality CPR from bystanders who are often non-healthcare professionals.

Thus, training in CPR is the need of the hour to stop preventable brain damage and death in victims of cardiac arrest.

With high quality CPR training you can save lives, train others to perform effective CPR and be the change that makes a real difference to human life.

Why learn CPR from American Heart Association (AHA):

American Heart Association is the world leader in CPR training. AHA not only conducts global high-quality research to develop standardised CPR guidelines, but also has developed a worldwide network of certified trainers and training tools to provide state of the art CPR training. Students learning CPR through AHA approved training centers are recognised all over the world as quality CPR providers. The card issued by AHA on successful completion of the course is accepted all over the world as a benchmark of expertise in providing CPR.

Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences (RTIICS) AHA ITC:

RTIICS is recognised by American Heart Association as an International Training Center (ITC) for AHA CPR courses. It is the oldest and the largest ITC in terms of training volume in whole of eastern India. Training from 2007, RTIICS ITC trains about 2500 students per year and has so far trained more than 20,000 doctors, nurses, paramedical healthcare workers, Emergency Medical Service personnel, policemen, school and college students and citizens in the community. Training courses are organised both at RTIICS and also on invitation, at other hospitals where our instructors travel with all necessary equipments to conduct the course, test proficiency and provide AHA course completion certificates. Senior AHA instructors with several years of training experience have worked for RTIICS ITC to provide training not only in hospitals across India but also in neighbouring Bangladesh.Towards recognition of these efforts, RTIICS ITC has been honoured by AHA Recognition and Merit Program for exemplary CPR training and maintenance of rigorous quality standards.
