Brief Profile

Dr. Quddusa Doongerwala is a board-certified psychiatrist with a sub-specialty in child and adolescent psychiatry. She completed her medical education at the University of Mumbai. She continued her medical training in Adult Psychiatry at the University of Texas at Houston before finishing with a focus on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through Stanford University. Her interest in psychiatry began in Medical school. After relocating to the United States, she worked in research for the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Stanford. While there, she assessed the effects of trauma in families with premature babies and chronically ill children. After this experience, Dr. Quddusa dedicated her career to helping children and their families. Her cultural background and formal training in America offered a unique perspective for patients. She feels the greatest struggle for mental health professionals all over the world is overcoming the stigma of mental illness. Embarrassment often leads to reluctance to seek or maintain treatment. She promotes acceptance through knowledge and understanding, and helps unique individuals overcome their fears through special therapeutic and nonjudgmental approaches.
