Dr. Mrinalendu Das is heading the department of Cardiac Surgery RTIICS since 2012. He has been working in the department as a senior consultant since 2004. His past associations were with CMC Vellore 1991-1993 (fellow) and Railway Hospital Perambur Chennai ( Sr. Divisional medical officer and unit head, 1993-2004) . Trained extensively at overseas for adult cardiac surgery in Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney (1996- 1998) and Green Lane hospital Auckland, Newzealand in Paediatric Cardiac Surgery (2002- 2003). Presently Dr. Das is actively involved in both adult and paediatric cardiac surgery. NHRTIICS in a partnership with Children Heart Link Hospital Minnesota , USA and Dr. Das is leading the team of NHRTIICS in this partnership. He has performed more than 25,000 cardiac surgical procedures.He has many publications in leading journals. He is also the lead in Surgical team for treatment of heart failure. He performed the first successful Heart Transplant in NHRTIICS and first to implant successfully LVAD (HM3) in Eastern India.
