Bachelors of Physiotherapy

INTRODUCTION

Physiotherapy, or physical therapy, is a Health care profession concerned with the assessment, maintenance, and restoration of the physical function and performance of the body. It is a distinct form of care which can be performed both in isolation and in conjunction with other types of medical management. Used in conjunction with certain medical or surgical techniques, Physiotherapy can complement these techniques to help provide a speedy and complication-free return to normal activity.

Physiotherapists are often referred as ‘movement specialists’. They are trained to assess and treat a variety of conditions that affect the physical function of adults and children and adolescents are pediatric Physiotherapists. Physiotherapy can be useful in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of injuries, disease processes, and other conditions, including:

Eligibility:

A Candidate seeking admission to first year Bachelor in Physiotherapy (BPT):

  • Should have passed two year Pre University examination conducted by Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka State, with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually also.OR
  • Shall have passed any other examination conducted by Boards / Councils / Intermediate examination established by State Government / Central Government and recognized as equivalent to a two year Pre University Examination by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences / Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually also.OR
  • Candidates who have completed Pre-university course with Vocational Physiotherapy as their optional subject are eligible for admission to BPT course.
  • In case of admission on the basis of qualifying examination, a candidate for admission to BPT course must have passed individually in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and must have obtained not less than 45% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination.
  • Should have completed 17 years of age, as on 31st December of the year of admission.
