Sumesh, all of 23 years suffered from black-outs, dizziness and severe shortness of breath. He had been to multiple hospitals but doctors were not able to diagnose his condition. Having found no answer, Sumesh had lost all hope.
He was rushed to Narayana Health City in an unconscious state. The doctors at NH diagnosed him and found that 75% of his lungs were covered in blood clots due to a condition called Chronic
Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension. His lung pressure had built up significantly and the right side of the heart was failing to pump blood to the lungs.
The team of Cardiac Surgeons at NH had to perform an emergency complex and high risk surgery called PTE (pulmonary thromboendarterectomy). The surgery lasted for six hours and was successful.
Whenever Sumesh looks back on his past, he smiles and says to himself “I never thought I could do it. But I did. PTE surgery saved my life and I walked out of the hospital.”
