Asthma is the chronic airway disease characterized by variable and recurring symptoms, reversible airflow obstruction and bronchospasm. This airways swell and become extremely sensitive to some of the substance a person might inhale. This increased sensitivity causes a reaction, the muscles that control the airways tighten. In doing so, they might obstruct the airways even further and trigger an overproduction of mucus, these further makes breathing difficult and trigger coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. For some asthma can be a minor problem that interferes with daily activities and may lead to life-threatening asthma.
