Health tips during Lockdown

Let’s get out of this lockdown healthier and stronger, you need to work on building strong immunity and maintain an active lifestyle. There are some health tips we can follow:

1. Eating healthy

Eating as healthily as possible is important not only for our physical health but for our mental health too.

You do not have to follow a specific diet, just avoid processed foods as they tend to be high in sugar levels.

The best foods for our mental health are generally the healthiest foods. Complex carbohydrates, found in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, provide important nourishment for our body as they slowly release energy, which also stabilizes our moods.

There is some food which can boost our immunity. These beneficial foods are:

  • Ginger
  • Cloves
  • Cinnamon
  • Turmeric
  • Black pepper
  • Dried fruits

One can also take vitamin supplements like vitamin C and vitamin D.

2. Sleeping  well

Sleep is essential for our bodies to repair the cells, clear toxins, consolidate our memories, and process important information. Between six to nine hours a night is sufficient for most people. Going to bed and waking up at a similar time each day can help maintain a sense of normalcy, and help you follow through with plans.

3. Stay active

Exercise releases chemicals in the body that make us feel good, and it’s also been linked to better sleep, reduced stress, and anxiety.

For moderate movement, 30 minutes per day is good enough as backed by WHO. One can include yoga, planks, skipping, on-the-spot-jogging, climbing stairs as exercise. Exercising releases endorphins and helps in getting better sleep, which is especially important amidst disrupted routine. It is also the one effective and time-tested way to avoid gaining weight.

Walk indoor and stay active.

4. Stay socially connected

We all need friends and relatives, so connect with them through social media, audio calling, or video calling.

Stay healthy and active, stay home, stay safe.
