Dynamic Spine Surgeries: The future is here!

Dynamic Spine Surgeries: The future is here | Narayana Health

Traditional fusion surgeries have been performed for several years, as the predominant technique used to treat degenerative spinal disorders. Although there are several benefits to use this surgical technique, adjacent segment diseases occur due to a transfer of stress from a stabilized motion segment to the adjacent level. A combination of hectic non-spine friendly lifestyles and advancement in spine surgical expertise, more and more young patients are getting operated for degenerative spine disorders. This phenomenon has further exacerbated the problem of adjacent segment diseases. Dynamic stabilization of the spine was developed to solve this problem by mimicking natural spine movements.

Various kinds of posterior dynamic implants are available which can be superficially classified into three types: 1. posterior interspinous spacers (e.g. COFLEX), posterior pedicle fixation-based dynamic stabilization devices (e.g. DYNESIS, and total facet replacement devices (e.g. TOPS). Transferring the load from a degenerated disc or facet to a dynamic stabilization construct is the basic idea behind these novel dynamic stabilization devices.

Worldwide results from various scientific studies using these devices are promising. The spine team at Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Gurugram is one the pioneer in the field of dynamic spine stabilization with a success rate of more than 95% over the last 20 years of clinical experience. While devising a treatment plan for our patients, we manage the majority of our patients with dynamic stabilizations, especially if the patients are young. If you or people you know are suffering from spinal disorders and looking for an expert, minimally invasive, motion-preserving surgical solution, then kindly feel free to contact us.
