As part of VPS Healthcare’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the company promised ‘100 Free Heart Surgeries’ in 2013 as a small token of appreciation for the late His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Al Nahyan, the father of the nation.

All the 100 heart free surgeries promised have been completed successfully and to celebrate the completion of the initiative, a function took place at the Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Narayana Health City, Bengaluru, India, where 59 of the surgeries took place.
Dignitaries like Mr. U.T.Khader Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Managing Director, VPS Healthcare and Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty Chairman and Founder, Narayana Health graced the occasion.

Speaking at the function, Mr. U.T. Khader, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, said ‘I congratulate and thank both – Dr Shamsheer Vayalil and Dr Devi Prasad Shetty – for successful completion of this noble cause. It is a great pleasure to witness these two giants of healthcare coming together to help the people.’
‘Dr Shamsheer has always been keen to help the people. I remember clearly that he was the first person to come forward and help the families of the tragic Mangalore Air Crash Victims in 2010. I sincerely hope that he continues to grow and help many more people for a long time to come,” he added.
Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Managing Director, VPS Healthcare, said ‘I am thankful to Mr. U.T. Khader and Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty for their continuous support. This initiative could not have been successful without their support and I promise that we will continue to work together and this initiative will also continue. One might say that our initiative is complete but for me, it is just the beginning.”
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman and Founder, Narayana Health, thanked Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil for “extending his support and helping the people. It is a great pleasure to have Dr. Shamsheer present here for this noble cause.’
