3 Months old baby from Kenya treated for Vein of Galen Malformation

In 2016, a 3 months child from Kenya was presented with Cardiac failure the reason was due to high flow shunt lesion in the brain (Vein of Galen malformation). The child underwent Endovascular Embolization where we inserted a small catheter from the leg artery into the brain artery and we injected the glue into the shunt and the failure was controlled. It was a challenging case because of the weight of the baby, access issues, contrast load, material to be used and high flow.

In 2018, the child visited us for a review and was normal, there was no residual lesion.

The parents were very happy and they shared their feedback:

Before saying that you are an extraordinary doctor, I want to tell you that you are an extraordinary human being. Thanks for showing so much care and concern to my daughter.

If every doctor strives to be as caring and generous as you, the world would be filled with smiles and laughter.

We are very happy that my daughter is now cured. Good doctors like you replace the Fear of Illness with Trust in Recovery. God bless you, doctor.
