Rajiv Gandhi Arogya Yojna, Amethi

This initiative from Narayana Health started in June 2005 with 2 clinics of Rajiv Gandhi Arogya Yojna – Amethi. These RAY Clinics are establishment of non-governmental Primary Health Canters in 16 blocks of Amethi covering 3800 sq kms with 2.4 million populations. The locations under RAY include Bhetua, Bhadar, Amethi, Sangrampur, Shahgarh, Gauriganj, Sukulbazar, Jagdishpur, Musfirkhana, Jamon, Deeh, Salon, Chattoh, Bahadurpur, Tiloi and Singpur

Currently there are 16 such centres, of which 4 are are owned by Narayana Health – 2 by RCC and 2 are pre fab bamboo structures (built by National Mission on Bamboo Applications, New Delhi) and rest 12 are rental structures.

  • Creating a model of cost effective primary healthcare
  • Setting up Telemedicine connectivity of all the rural clinics to specialty hospital
  • Free OPD consultations, free medicines, dressing of wounds
  • Camps & Screening Programs every week
  • Over 2, 50,000 patients seen annually
  • Trans telephonic ECG network & Telemedicine - June 2007 (in association with Intel Digital Health)
  • Average patient view per month is 20000 – 22000
  • 55 – 60 patients per day per clinic (3 1/2 hrs)
  • Basic Laboratory at Shahgarh & Gauriganj

Mode of Functioning

  • Basic Healthcare – Integrated Medicine with both Allopathy & Alternate medicine facilities – doctors from both the streams
  • Generic Medicines free of cost – procured from “not for profit” pharmaceutical companies which are tested for quality
  • Recruiting people from the rural areas and training them for pharmacy, paramedics, & telemedicine operations
